Fasting on the 10th day of Muharram

Known as Ashura, fasting the 9;10 or 11th day of Muharram, as narrated by the prophet of Allah, May Allah be pleased with him, will protect the individual from the previous years bad deeds.  It is mentioned, that the fasting of these days are seen in the same light as fasting on the day of Arafah.  The Scholar of Islam, Ibn Taymiyah mentions strongly, that a muslim should take this opportunity, to be one of the more successful, to make the most of this gift from Allah, and in turn, this great dead will bring them closer to the creator.

The Prophet of Allah once said, May Allah protect him, “If I live to see another year, I will fast the 9th day of Muharram” – The prophet wanted to show the significants of this fast on this day, by implying the fast has great weight when deeds are accounted for.

Hadith – children

Narrated by the esteemed Narrator of Hadith, Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him.  It was noticed by one of the congregation of the masjid, that the prophet would kiss the children who would sit with him.  Al’Aqra, Ibn Habis At Timimi, who had noticed this event, stated he had never kissed one of his ten children.  The prophet of Allah in reply said, “Allah will not be merciful with those who are not merciful to others”
